Forgotten Tv Reboots That Briefly Returned To Screens

Television has never had enough of the old familiar names. The networks usually wish that the recognizable names will bring with them the loyalty of viewers coupled with the ability to attract a new generation. There are occasions when the strategy is a great success. Reboots can also be very faint and vanish after a short course of time. Decades after, a great number of the audience cannot recall that the revivals even took place. Some lasted only one season. Others changed the cast or the emphasis to such an extent that viewers were out of the place. Nevertheless, each of them demonstrates a specific point in the history of television when nostalgia and experimentation collided. These are eleven TV reunions that premiered, were met with interest and then faded away.

Dallas

Dallas aired several decades after the initial primetime soap hit the trend. Familiar faces were next to younger faces to carry on with the Ewing family drama. Although the revival was initially enthusiastic and earned good critical reviews, it failed to keep the momentum and ended its third season unannounced.

Melrose Place

The Melrose Place tried to resuscitate the glistening apartments-complex drama, which had ruled the 90s. Some of these original cast members were seen but switching the storylines and uneven tone did not allow it to be as fascinating and get the audiences glued to the TV set every week.

Knight Rider

Knight Rider has revised the idea of the speaking car with the use of new technology and lead character. The sleek vehicle made an impact but one of the ways in which the show failed was in its inability to tell stories consistently. It could not stay on network schedules long enough to complete a second season.

The Bionic Woman

The Bionic Woman was a variation of the traditional heroine, who was presented darker and more dramatic. The expectations were high after its introduction. Ultimately due to production troubles and dropping ratings, the premise was promised but due to crises in production then cancelled.

Charlie’s Angels

Charlie’s Angels tried to have another revival of the legendary crime-fighting trio on TV. In order to modernize the concept, glamorous imagery and fresh back stories were utilized. The ratings plummeted rapidly and the series came to a standstill in a matter of weeks of its broadcast.

The Odd Couple

The friendship of mismatch between the roommates was reintroduced in The Odd Couple with a new cast and comedy. Light entertainment was given by the leads chemistry. Nevertheless, it never had the same cultural impact as its predecessors and used three small seasons.

Dynasty

Dynasty ushered in a new generation of the glamorous Carrington family. It was aired on a different network than its original, and was more dramatic, more style-oriented. It never necessarily monopolised discussion, though it did build a niche following.

90210

90210 had more to offer in terms of the Beverly Hills zip code popularity. Guest appearances were made by original characters, who bridged the generations. However, even though the show seemed to be a curious beginning, it slowly lost audiences and ended in its fifth season.

MacGyver

MacGyver has revised as a resourceful problem-solver in modern times. Innovative gadget solutions also continued to feature in each episode. Although the series was aired over several seasons, there was never renewed popularity as it had with its initial predecessor.
